In Eruption – temapesi’, the artist uses rattan to symbolize the motion of underground water molecules and the release of geothermal energy, echoing the rhythms and tension of the Zhiben hot springs. The curves and extensions of the rattan, driven outward by pressure and heat, reflect the dynamic beauty of natural energy and the fragility of tension on the verge of breaking.
These flowing lines act as a visual language of subterranean movement and also metaphorically express the buildup and release of inner emotions. The work captures not only the soothing and healing nature of hot springs, but also subtly reminds us of the unpredictable forces that lie beneath the surface. As viewers move through the rattan forms, they engage in a deeper reflection on energy, pressure, and the cycles of life.
